The Tenth Year

My eyes gaze upon the
Delightful and complex creature that you are.
Strong body, bright eyes,
A mind of wonderous imaginings.
Loving in unexpected ways,
And sharp all over.
You bring me to my knees
In pleading and loss.
You lift me higher than I
Deserve to go.
I wait helplessly by your side
As you change into a person
I love more than my own life.
In the quiet moments, I gaze at you without your knowing. I see the eternity of God
Stretching and unfolding before us.
